About The Artist

Lisa Tate

Lisa has studied glass cutting and engraving for 20 years. She has been an obsessed glass blower since 1998, studying at Corning Studio (New York), Bay Area Glass Institute (San Francisco), Pratt Fine Art Center (Seattle) and Zion Mountain Glass. Lisa studied sculpture at the University of Montana and holds a Masters degree in Non Profit Organizational Structure.

Lisa's work features the rare art of cameo glass. Cameo Glass is the process of blowing glass in multiple layers of paper-thin colors, then cutting through the color to create a design or scene. There are only a handful of serious cameo glass artists in the United States today. Her work is displayed in galleries and museum collections throughout the United States and in the Middle East.

Other interests include hang gliding, rock climbing, showing horses, big dogs, and being outdoors. Lisa is also the President of the United States Hang Gliding and Paragliding Association. She owns and operates Soaring Dreams Studio, an off hand furnace glass blowing studio in Boise, Idaho.
